although it wasn’t obvious in many of the pictures, there actually was a relatively clear path to follow. two, actually. we took the “camel path” up and the “stairs of penitence” down. supposedly the truly pious pilgrims climb these stairs on their knees. i was perfectly happy on my progressively less stable feet, thank you very much.
